Bylaws Brunch with the Board — April 19, 2026

You are invited to join the Peoples Church Board of Trustees for a brunch on Sunday, April 19 at 9:30 a.m. before service to ask questions about the proposed bylaw changes. Board members will answer questions and share what they’ve been working on. Please come, ask your questions, and stay for a chat about Peoples Church. We’d love to see you there.

Proposed bylaw changes:

  • Revise the Treasurer’s role (Article VIII.1.a.iv) so the formal financial report and budget vote take place at the December congregational meeting. This aligns the bylaws with current practice.

  • Set July 1 as the start date for Board terms (Article VII.1.a) to support a smoother handoff. This aligns the bylaws with a well-paced leadership transition, allowing the current Board to finish its work and new Trustees to get oriented.

  • Add a new “unity of control” section (Article VII.3.b) to clarify that only the Board acting as a body may direct the Minister. This aligns the bylaws with our Policy Governance framework.
