Rev. Carin recently opened an email newsletter from her State Representative Tracy Ehlert and was pleasantly surprised to see this picture with our church building included in the top of the news:

Rev. Carin immediately wrote the following in response: 

Hi Representative Ehlert, 

How wonderful to open your newsletter and see you and Senator Staed standing outside Peoples Church Unitarian Universalist over on Gordon Avenue NW! That's the church that I've been serving since August 2023, and we just recently put up that Pride Flag — so I recognized it right away.

Our congregation is especially interested in/concerned about: 

• Water Quality in Iowa

• Immigrant Rights  — locally and around the state

• LGBTQIA+ Justice  — especially trans rights

This is one example of how you can build connections with lawmakers to help live out our UU values every day!
