  • The meeting was called to order by Board President Robyn Miessler-Kubanek at noon.

  • Minutes from the previous congregational meeting on December 8, 2024 were presented for approval: approved on a motion by Doug Ogle, seconded by Rich Patterson.

REPORTS

A dozen print copies of the Annual Report were requested/provided at the meeting.

Minister’s Highlights:

  • Rev. Carin shared stories of UU churches that provide support and safety for some of our folks, whether traveling and in need of assistance, or moving to find a safer environment for their families.

  • Announcing an Interim Faith Formation Director candidate who is completing the hiring process this week. After serving as an interim at the Iowa City Coralville UU Society, she brings a depth of experience in ministry, and Faith Formation in particular – and will begin at Peoples Church June 8.

President’s Update:

  • Robyn reviewed the Planning for Priorities Campaign that has produced a Building and Grounds Team for maintenance and special projects, access to funding, and updating the means to do so in our policies and procedures.

  • Listening Sessions will be a means to identify our common vision and individual ambitions in transforming our church to meet our mission and goals in a challenging environment.

  • Together, we are creating opportunities for seeking transformation within a structured framework: the tension between fixed and dynamic elements offers an inspiring environment for growth and change.

Stewardship Update:

  • Brenda Meshak introduced the 2026 Stewardship Campaign theme, Still We Rise, which follows our successful 2025 campaign, Feed the Seeds. Looking ahead, the church has been impacted by the loss of several generous members. Careful and consistent stewardship of our members’ contributions helps ensure a sound foundation for our church into the future. The theme reflects the greater challenges now present in our state and nation that impacts our members, friends and the wider community.
