Co-Creating: First Fridays at Peoples Church
What happens when you put a dozen people in a room with their own projects and no agenda? They talk. They make things. They surprise each other.
Since April, Co-Creating has brought together members and neighbors to work side-by-side on whatever they're making. We've seen crocheting, painting, card-making, Lego design, game writing, climbing wall planning, job applications, and fiber arts of all kinds. One person discovered a new portable weaving tool. Another said Co-Creating was the only way they'd been able to make progress on a stalled project. Conversations have wandered from childhood memories to board games to career changes.
No classes. No instruction. No sign-up. Just a free, welcoming space where people of all backgrounds show up with something portable to work on and end up connecting over the doing of it. And if you don't have supplies, our Art Cart has materials to get you started.
Our next session is Friday, August 7, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Peoples Church Unitarian Universalist, 4980 Gordon Ave NW in Cedar Rapids.
Drop in when you can, leave when you need to. Bring a project, bring a friend, or just bring yourself and see what it's about.
Co-Creating continues on First Fridays through the fall:
August 7, September 4, October 2, November 6, and December 4.
Some attendees weren't sure what to expect their first time and left glad they came. You might, too.
