Faith Formation and Flourishing Together

As summer begins to unfold around us, the Faith Formation Council is reflecting on what it means to flourish together. Flourishing is not just about programs or classrooms. It is about relationships, shared experiences, and continuing to grow as a community of care, justice, curiosity, and love.

While there will be no formal Faith Formation classes over the summer, there are still many opportunities for connection and learning together. On Saturday, June 20, the Social Justice Team will host a booth at the Cedar Rapids Juneteenth Celebration. Everyone is invited to stop by, enjoy the celebration, and support this important community event. The following Saturday, June 27, Peoples Church UU will participate in the Cedar Rapids Pride Parade and Celebration. Children and youth are especially encouraged to join us in the parade as we celebrate love, inclusion, and the beautiful diversity of our wider community.

June also brings moments of transition and reflection. My final day at Peoples Church UU will be July 2, and the congregation is invited to a β€œBye Bye Bridget Brunch" on Sunday, June 21, to celebrate my ministry and send best wishes for the on the next chapter of her journey.

As the congregation prepares to welcome a new Coordinator of Lifespan Faith Formation, we also look ahead to exploring a possible β€œWhole Church RE” model, where faith formation becomes something we do not only in classrooms, but together across generations and throughout congregational life. This shift will invite all of us into deeper learning, creativity, and participation as we continue discovering what it means to flourish together.

May this summer be a season of rest, joy, connection, and possibility for all.

Peace,
Bridget
