An up-LIFT-ing Plan

Great News: Solid plans are being finalized to move forward expeditiously with replacement of the PCUU lift, which has served us well for 41 years, nearly twice the projected life of wheelchair lifts.

But the congregation has consistently indicated that lift replacement is a priority to improve church accessibility. In addition, lift experts have told us that, if/when the current lift fails, parts are no longer available to repair it.

A new lift provides opportunities to improve safety, floor space, weight capacity, operating speed, sound levels, and aesthetics. Your Building & Grounds Team intends to finalize plans and begin forward progress during September, starting with a visit by the preferred contractor on Monday, August 24th to firm up and clarify scope of our initial estimate. It seems attainable to complete the replacement project by very early 2027.

A generous benefactor has provided substantial financial support for the project. But additional monies will be needed to raise the approximate $80,000 total needed for the project – your support, large or small, will be helpful!

More information on the Lift Project will be provided to the congregation during a First Hour presentation on Sunday September 20th at 9:45 am. Discussion and questions are welcomed!!

Important Note: This project is beyond the current “Stronger Together” annual operating pledge drive. So, please support that as you consider how you might also support the lift project.

Thank you!
