Phasing Out the PCUU Food Pantry

According to a recent look at the food cupboard contents and hallway traffic, very few people have been using the Food Pantry in the front hallway lately. The Care Team did an inspection of the food items and discovered many were past the “best by” date on the cans and packages. Although “best by” dates are not a hard expiration date, local food pantries don’t accept food past the “best by” date. 

In November we were able to donate food with 2025 dates to a more heavily used church food cupboard, but we were unfortunately forced to dispose of food with dates before 2025. 

Although past donations are very much appreciated, we plan to phase out the food cupboard at the end of January. Peoples people are encouraged to take the items from the cupboard if you need them. Later this month we will donate the remaining food to a local food pantry.
