How Can “First Hour” Help Us Become Stronger Together?
This coming church year, Peoples Church is experimenting with “First Hour” offerings as part of a “Whole Church RE” approach to our congregational life.
In a nutshell, this experiment means we will plan opportunities for children, youth, and adults to engage in learning and exploring – together. Previously we’ve had age-segregated activities (e.g. the “Forum” was separate from “Faith Formation”).
“First Hour” will run from 9:45 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. on Sunday mornings. There will be options for small group ministry, crafting across generations, singing, and more! Learn more by reading the articles from Rishi Wagle (the Director of Music Ministry) and Hayden Hite (the new Coordinator of Lifespan Faith Formation) elsewhere in this Voice.
The “Second Hour” (from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.) will be our usual multigenerational worship service where we engage with story, song, and ritual to make meaning of our lives.
Hayden schedule the First Hour opportunities, so feel free to email them at faithformation@pcuu.org if you have any activities you’d like to facilitate and/or explore.
We are about half-way through our Annual Budget Drive with the “Stronger Together” Stewardship Campaign. Making financial commitments in service to our Peoples Church Mission is similar to joining across the generations for our “First Hour” experiments – we really can be stronger when we come together in community. Thank you for committing to the adventure ahead!
With Love at the Center,
