Music of the Month — June 2026
The June 2026 Hymn of the Month is “The Tide is Rising” composed by Shoshana Meira Friedman. It can be found in our new virtual hymnal at: https://www.singoutlove.org/ which you can access by contacting the church office at admin@pcuu.org.
Inspired by Gulf Shore Risings’ words “The seas are rising, so are we,” Rabbi Shoshana Meira Friedman and her husband Yotam Schachter co-wrote “The Tide Is Rising” in 2015. “Tide” quickly spread in the climate justice movement. It has been sung at protests, marches, blockades, conferences, worship services, and community gatherings. From Standing Rock to the People’s Climate March, from pipeline construction sites to holding cells in police stations, across oceans and at least three continents, “Tide” spreads a message of radical empowerment, devotion, and active hope as we fight for all we love.
