New Signs around Peoples Church

You will soon be seeing signs at the doors of some of our spaces in the church building. These signs have been approved by the Social Justice Team, our Minister and with guidance from the UUA. The signs will state:

PRIVATE SPACE. Access limited to religious purposes of Peoples Unitarian Universalist Church.

These signs are meant to be proactive in the event ICE should enter our building. ICE is entitled legally to enter any space that is open to the public. This would include the Sanctuary. They may enter public spaces without a warrant.

ICE would need a judicial warrant signed by a federal judge (not an administrative warrant) to enter previously protected private congregational spaces. Without this warrant, staff will not consent to ICE entering our protected private spaces.
