Second Sunday Social Justice Forum — April 12, 2026

Calling All Citizen Scientists: Our Social Justice Forum on Sunday, April 12 at 9:45 a.m. will feature Laura Krouse, a Mt Vernon resident who has been a citizen scientist for the Nitrate Watch Project for several years. Laura will explain how to order and use the kits which we will use to measure the amount of nitrates in bodies of water and in our tap water. In recent years Iowans have become increasingly concerned about the quality of the water in our state. The amount of nitrate from fertilizer run off has been rapidly increasing and the Legislature has not approved adequate funding for the monitoring of our water quality.
