Nitrate Watch Project

Did you know that excess nitrate in water can pose serious problems for the health of humans and the environment?  As part of our advocacy efforts the Social Justice Team will be sponsoring a Nitrate Watch Project in cooperation with the Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement and the Izaac Walton League.  Monitoring water quality is a crucial step in combatting pollution and is something we can do as citizen scientists.  In this program citizen scientists can monitor water sources that are meaningful to them for recreation, conservation, or drinking.  These water sources can be rivers, streams, lakes, and even tap water.

We will be sharing more information about this program at the 9/16 Social Justice meeting at 7 pm on Zoom (all congregants are invited) and at our Forums on 10/26 and 11/2.
